Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 34 Commander Kevin Ford of NASA, Flight Engineer Tom Marshburn of NASA and Flight Engineer Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency were treated to a late afternoon call from entertainer Peter Gabriel on Feb. 20 during a visit to the Johnson Space Center's ISS Flight Control Room at Mission Control in Houston. Gabriel and his family were the guests of astronaut Ron Garan during a tour of the center's facilities. Gabriel discussed life and work on orbit with the three crewmembers and was treated to a few chords of music from Hadfield, who is never far from his guitar aboard the orbital laboratory.
15-Year-Old Kelvin Doe is an engineering whiz living in Sierra Leone who scours the trash bins for spare parts, which he uses to build batteries, generators and transmitters. Completely self-taught, Kelvin has created his own radio station where he broadcasts news and plays music under the moniker, DJ Focus.
